Facilities Parks Beaches

Guilford has many beautiful parks, beaches, and sports fields maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department. If you are interested in renting Jacobs Beach Pavilion or a sports field, please go to the Policies & Forms Page for facility use or room reservation form.

Trail System and Recreation Areas Rev April 2, 2021

A reminder that according to Town Code Section 214-2 (N) – Dogs, except for Seeing dogs, or other pets are prohibited from town property unless they are on a leash or lead a maximum of seven feet in length and under control of the owner/keeper at all times.  Dogs or other pets are also prohibited from digging and destroying lawn or vegetation or causing an annoyance to other property users.  In addition, owners/keepers are required to remove and dispose of any animal defecation immediately from the property.

Pets are prohibited on Town beaches, except that dogs shall be permitted on the following Town-owned shorefront areas: Grass Island, Shell Beach, Daniel Avenue Beach, Chittenden Park, Chaffinch Island, and the Trolley Road property. The owner and/or keeper of the dogs shall be subject to the provisions set forth in § 214-2N. Dogs will not be permitted on the beaches at Jacobs Beach and Lake Quonnipaug in accordance with the requirements pertaining to public swimming areas, as defined and set forth in Section 19a-36-B61 of the regulations of the State Department of Health, Public Health Code.
